Broadliner TD SYNNEX UK announced that Andy Gass, chief digital officer, global, has decided to retire from the business, effective January, 2024. The company also announced that Matt Child, currently executive leader of its advanced solutions division in the UK and Ireland (UK&I), will become senior vice president, digital, Europe, and a member of the company’s European executive team on December 1, 2023. A recruitment process is underway to identify Child’s successor for the UK&I advanced solutions leadership position.
During his 30-year tenure with TD SYNNEX, Gass has served in a variety of strategic and operational leadership roles at country, regional and global level. A qualified chartered accountant, he started in 1993 as a finance executive in the company’s design software division. Gass then embarked on an operational leadership career that, at various times, saw him lead the business in UK & Ireland, Western Europe and the company’s enterprise and specialist technology divisions. During this time, he was instrumental in the delivery of a series of transformational acquisitions, accelerating the development of TD SYNNEX’s end-to-end collection of specialists model. Five years ago, Gass became executive leader for the company’s digital transformation and commercial excellence strategy in Europe, driving innovation and customer-centric business outcomes aimed at accelerating channel partner growth through data-led personalisation and enhanced digital platforms. In February 2022, he was appointed chief digital officer with global oversight of the company’s digital strategy.
Patrick Zammit, president Europe for TD SYNNEX, said: “Andy is a role model for entrepreneurial leadership in our company and is highly respected inside and outside our business for his strategic insights and outstanding track record. He left a great legacy from his tenure as leader of our UK&I business and, as digital leader during the last five years, he has assembled a fantastic team that is breaking new ground with a truly customer-centric digital and commercial excellence strategy, which will serve as a platform for our future growth for many years to come. Although he is not retiring just yet, I take this opportunity to extend my warm thanks and congratulations to Andy on behalf of everyone at TD SYNNEX and to wish him every success during this new and well-deserved chapter in his life.”
Gass said: “I have had a challenging, rewarding and enormously enjoyable career with TD SYNNEX that has given me the opportunity to work with talented co-workers and world class business partners in a dynamic industry. Throughout my tenure, our company has grown enormously both in financial terms and in the breadth of offering we have for reseller partners and vendors. In particular, it has been hugely rewarding to lead our TD SYNNEX’s digital transformation on a European and global basis. We have been agile and innovative in laying the foundations of digital customer engagement that will continue to be a long-term growth engine for the business. I would like to thank my co-workers for all their friendship and support and my inspirational bosses who trusted me to innovate and deliver.”
Child joined TD SYNNEX in 2015, first serving as managing director of the company’s UK mobile division before being appointed in 2018 to lead its UK endpoint solutions division. Since 2019, he has served as managing director of TD SYNNEX’s advanced solutions business in the UK.
Child said: “I am honoured and excited to take on the leadership of our European digital strategy, which is so fundamentally important to the future of our business. The foundations laid by Andy Gass and his team are quite spectacular and I am looking forward to building upon his legacy, continuing to drive clear differentiation for our internal teams and TD SYNNEX channel partners alike. As I look ahead to this new role, I am also very proud of the evolution of the advanced solutions business in the UK over the last four years. We have established ourselves as a true trusted advisor to both the partner and vendor communities in the high-growth technology space. I thank our team for their part in the progress we have made together and I look forward to supporting my successor in accelerating the business in the future. I have always felt fully supported by TD SYNNEX at every turn in my career; to have the opportunity to ‘learn and lead’ in the digital arena is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity which I am looking forward to immensely.”
Zammit said: “Matt has a proven track record as an agile, dynamic and outcome-focused leader in our business. I know that his fresh perspective, customer-first mindset, passion for innovation and capacity to develop and lead high performing teams will be huge assets as we continue to accelerate our digital transformation and commercial excellence strategy in the region.”
