Broadliner ASBISC Enterprises, due to plans for further expansion in Africa, has strengthened its operations in this country by opening a new distribution center in Johannesburg (South Africa), which will serve South Africa and the neighboring countries of the region. The warehouse space of the new facility is 500 sqm, but thanks to the cooperation with the current partner in the 3PL model, it increases to 8,500 sqm.

Currently, ASBIS has 2 main distribution centers (Czechia and United Arab Emirates) covering its operations and added recently another 2 regional (in Georgia and South Africa) with a total area of 26,300 sqm, including additional space available in South Africa.

In addition, apart from the main distribution centers, each of the ASBIS subsidiaries has its own warehouse space, ensuring the continuity of current deliveries to customers. The total warehouse space of ASBIS, including main, regional and local distribution centers, currently amounts to approximately 72,000 sqm.

The new distribution center in South Africa will serve as a fast reloading station, from which orders will be delivered to ASBIS customers located not only throughout South Africa, but also in the central regions of the continent. North and East Africa is served from Dubai and Prague.Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa, the seat of the Constitutional Court and the main economic and financial center of South Africa. In 2015, the city was inhabited by 4.4 million people, and the entire metropolitan area, according to unofficial data, about 8 million.

Costas Tziamalis, Deputy CEO of ASBIS Group, commented: “ASBIS has ambitious plans to develop its operations in Africa, which will implement in cooperation with its current partner. In this way, we gain a lot of market know-how, which is the key to success for such as specific markets as African countries are. The new distribution center in Johannesburg is the proverbial gateway to Africa, because with this warehouse we have significant coverage of the continent. We gain direct access to clients not only in South Africa, but also in neighboring countries but also in some instances to countries such as Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast. It is an area that covers over 330 million inhabitants, which is almost as much as half of Europe. As we develop our operations in Africa, we will gradually increase the warehouse space in this country.
